VILLA FLAMINIA INSTITUTE

The villa grounds, which when viewed from above resemble a large but irregular trapezoid, cover an area of 50,000 square meters and are rich in palm trees and tall trees, some of which are quite rare. To better identify the buildings that make up the Institute—which were constructed along the longer sides of the property so as not to divide the park—it is enough to walk along the long internal avenue, starting from the entrance on Viale del Vignola and continuing to the main entrance of the villa, which opens onto the historic Via Flaminia.

The entrance from Viale del Vignola was created through a breach in the perimeter wall to avoid any danger to the large groups of students—risks that would have been greater had the school entrance been located directly on Via Flaminia.

Upon passing through the gate on Viale del Vignola, the La Salle Cottage immediately catches the eye. After walking down a short and gentle slope, one encounters the Temple of Aesculapius, flanked by a small building with exposed brickwork. At the beginning and on the right side of the long internal avenue, the two gardens with playgrounds for the children of the preschool can be seen, while on the left lies the Swan Pond.

After walking about 50 meters along the avenue—elegantly lined with dense hedges of laurel and myrtle—the long school building comes into view. On the right side of the avenue are the sports fields, along with the buildings housing the swimming pool and the gymnasium.

Before the school building ends, one can admire the elegant open-air theater. Behind it, in a quiet and secluded area, visitors may pause for prayer in front of the Grotto of Lourdes. Continuing along the same direction toward Via Flaminia and facing it, there is the modest building of the Soup Kitchen for the Poor and, opposite the soup kitchen and also overlooking Via Flaminia, the Palazzi building.

From 6:00 p.m. onward, the sports facilities and some halls are also used by local associations and private citizens for training sessions, tournaments, meetings, conferences, and recreational events.

During the summer period, in order to provide additional support to the families of both enrolled and external students, 8 to 9 weeks of the “LaSallEstate” summer camp are organized.
